Service Officer Program

The California State Council (CSC) Veteran Service Officer (VSO) program has made some good progress since it began. The VSF grant money that was received is approximately 15% of our total yearly budget to run the program. The remainder of the budget comes from the VVA Household Goods Donation Program (HGDP) money that the CSC HGDP chapters and the CSC have donated to the program and one grant that we have been awarded by the Pettus Foundation along with a grant from the California Veterans Benefits Fund (CVBF). The program employs four accredited Service Officers, two in Southern California and two in Northern California. We also have one volunteer Service Officer that has received their accreditation and is in Southern CA. The program has also employed an administrative aide in our Long Beach office.

The CSC VSO program is under guidance of the CSC Veterans Benefits Committee and the CSC Board of Directors. The committee works closely with the Service Officers through telephone and email contact, as well as, reviewing their quarterly reports and constantly looking for candidates to be Service Officers to spread out the work that needs to be done helping veterans and their families in California with our large veteran community. Dick Southern is the Chief Service Office administering and supervising the program and working closely with the Service Officers and the CSC Veterans Benefits committee.

The California State Council Service Officer program thanks the Veterans Support Foundation for their investment in our program and we will continue with our work in progress.
